Singapore firm buys SLW Communication
KUALA LUMPUR: Jebsen & Jessen Communications (S) Pte Ltd has acquired local solutions provider and systems integrator SLW Communication Sdn Bhd to consolidate its position as a leading regional converged internet protocol (IP) solutions provider.
The merged entity, known as Jebsen & Jessen Communications Solutions (M) Sdn Bhd, plans to grow its local market share and penetrate new markets such as Vietnam, the Singapore firm's regional managing director Harold Thng said.
Thng said it was "fair-value" deal, but declined to elaborate. "The local IP market is worth about US$20mil and currently we have about 30% of this," he said at the signing of an agreement on the deal yesterday.
Besides Malaysia, Jebsen & Jessen Communications has operations in Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines. And it would start operations Vietnam in April.
"We are looking for partnerships in Australia, China, India and Japan," he said. "The merger will give us access to extended resources for technical competency and customer support."
SLW Communication general manager, sales and operations, Goh Poh Gan said the merger with Jebsen & Jessen Communications would "boost our industry standing and market share in Malaysia and the region."
