Revirginity

Virginity is still a very important issue in some cultures, particularly in Arab, African and some Latin American countries. It is far more significant than a women’s look, education or wealth. The state of their hymens appears to be the feature that decides of marriage prospects, family’s reputation or sometimes even life. In Western societies on the other hand, virginity is not any more considered as an element that is necessary to enter a new path of life — marriage however sometimes and in certain circles it is regarded as a nice and unexpected addition.

Revirginity, or in other words — restoring virginity, meets all these needs. Hymen repair surgery, known also as hymenorraphy or hymenoplasty is considered as a relatively simple operation. It involves suturing the rests of the ruptured hymen together along with a gelatin capsule filled with blood-like liquid. During intercourse the capsule bursts and releases the substance which creates the impression of a genuine hymen’s rupture. For some women it is a way to save their life or reputation, for others — re-experiencing their first intercourse.

Hymen repair surgery is a very prosperous industry at the moment, mainly in Arab countries yet it is extremely expensive. In Western societies hymen restoration is legal and ethically considered the same way as plastic surgery. Many women decide to undertake the operation using it as a symbolic gesture before their next marriage, this way the new surgical technique is offering them a chance for a new future with a new partner. But it is not the only reason why women decide to do so. Sometimes they want to relive their first intercourse and share it with their present husband who was not necessarily their first sexual partner. Restored virginity allows them to return to an intact state.

Revirginity is a very disputable issue. On one hand it can save life or reputation, but on the other hand, especially when it is a result of a whim, it just seems to be a needless operation that may sometimes affect women’s health.
