Hyperion offers application solutions for sector

PROVIDING business performance management and business intelligence solutions, Hyperion is ready to focus on the growing local maritime industry.

The Hyperion System 9 is a comprehensive performance management solution and the first to integrate financial management applications with a business intelligence platform into a modular system that will adapt to any business need.

The comprehensive, integrated solution delivers visibility of past, present and future business operations, enabling sustained improvement in business performance.

Hyperion Solutions Asia Pte Ltd channels manager Terry Smagh said the company saw the positive potential of the Malaysian maritime industry and it could use such a system to improve the business performance.

Claudia Pirko: Hyperion also offers the “what-if” scenarios planning by staging different business scenes and clients can opt for the optimal results.
“Actually our system is all encompassing to fit any industry but can be tailored to match the requirements of maritime industries such as ports, shipping lines, logistics provider, freight forwarders and other related businesses key performance indicators (KPI).

“In Malaysia, companies like Westports, Sime Darby, Touch 'n' Go, CIMB and Malaysian Oxygen have leverage on our services.”

Explaining the basic function of Hyperion System, he said the software was not to replace any existing system.

“In a port situation for example, we are not replacing the current port management system, but Hyperion will choose and manipulate relevant data from the system based on the requirement of the company to display it in more palatable manner.

“With this, customers get faster, better and the most current visibility of their business performance,” he said.

He said financial reports, business performance reports, clients’ reports and many other types of reports would only be a click away.

“And the most amazing part is it works for any size of companies from multinationals organisations to small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs).

“In addition, we are also developing a package for SMEs which will be affordable for them to enjoy the benefits of Hyperion.

“Obviously, for SMEs which do not have many users community, the price will be much lower,” he said.

Usually with multiple reporting systems, IT teams frequently struggle to meet reporting demands that exceed their capacity to deliver.

Inconsistent user interfaces increase training costs and the sheer volume of data available in today’s enterprises can swamp infrastructures not built for massive scalability.

Line-of-business managers also feel the strain of working with disparate reporting systems, as they have limited visibility into the connection between financial and operating performance.

But, Hyperion System eliminates the challenges of managing multiple, disparate systems. It reduces total cost of ownership by simplifying systems management, administration and support, and offers a scalable, standards-based, flexible foundation for easier integration into existing enterprise architectures.

It provides a consistent source of information across the enterprise through master data management, and enables centralised license management for improved auditing and compliance.

Other usages of system according to Hyperion senior product marketing manager APAC Claudia Pirko is that the system worked with a single front and back end that could be plugged in and out modules according to the specific business needs.

“We already have a strong base in the financial reports and consolidation but now the system also provides business intelligence capability to analyse the past, monitor the present and link these to future forecasting.

“For example, forecasting possible future routing for shipping lines that will increase their bottom line.

“Furthermore, Hyperion also offers the “what-if” scenarios planning by staging different business scenes and clients can opt for the optimal results,” she said.

She added that users needed not to be an IT expert to use the system but they must be used to business terms and operations.

“With wizards readily available and click and point help, we have simplified the operation of the system to be user friendly,” she said.

In the market for 25 years, Hyperion Solution Corp is a leader in business performance management software with more than 11,000 customers worldwide.
